KAWARTHA LAKES- Durham Regional Police have arrested a man in a human trafficking investigation and officers want to ensure there are no further victims.

Police say in the beginning of December, 2020, a 23-year-old woman came forward to DRPS and advised that she met a male at her workplace and he began to traffic her in the sex trade. The victim advised that the suspect would arrange dates and take all her money according to police.

On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, members of the DRPS Human Trafficking Unit arrested the suspect in Richmond Hill. It is believed that the suspect has ties to York Region, Peel Region and Toronto.

37 year old Rouzbeh Karimkhani is charged with: Trafficking in Persons by Exercising Control; Financial Benefit Trafficking Person Over 18 Years of Age; Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration; Material Benefit from Sexual Services; Procuring/Exercising Control; Recruit Person to Provide Sexual Services for Consideration and Advertising Another Person’s Sexual Services.  He was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators are releasing the photo of the wanted suspect Karimkhani as police would like to ensure there are no further victims.
